Facility

All of our dispatching is
done from a central office located on Sixth St., as well as
dispatching for two volunteer EMS services and back-up to the
Hancock County volunteer fire departments. We also provide dispatch
and communication assistance for the Life Flight program.
Our ambulances consist of two medium duty units, three mini-mod
units, and one van unit. We also use a custom built extended cab
medium duty unit as our Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU).
Hanco
has been a participant of the St. Vincent's Critical Care Network
since 1994. Our MICU, which is basically dedicated to perform
inter-hospital transfers of critically ill patients, is staffed 24/7
by a medical crew consisting of a specially trained critical care
nurse, paramedic and a qualified EMT. It is also used in a support
role to the St. Vincent's Life Flight program when air response is
not possible due to inclement weather.
In addition, Hanco utilizes a Chevrolet Tahoe as a command or echo
vehicle and a boat with motor for use in water rescue. We make use
of a set of Lukas and Hurst rescue tools and a set of high pressure
airbags for specialty rescues. HANCO recently upgraded to the Zoll
M-Series monitor/defibrillator to keep up with current ACLS
treatment. These monitors are equipped with 12-lead EKG, SpO2
monitoring, as well as AED function and full Paramedic capabilities.
As you can see, when pre-hospital emergency medical service is
needed we can provide immediate response by ground, water or air.
